Tiberio Ezquerra was born in Zaragoza (Spain) where he obtained his first degree in Physics in 1982. He was doctoral fellow at the Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM) CSIC, Madrid (Spain) where he got his Dr. degree in 1986. Later he moved to the Max-Planck Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz (Germany) where he spent two years. Since 1988 he belongs to the scientific staff of the Instituto de Estructura de la Materia as tenure scientist and in April 2009 he was promoted to Research Professor (Full Professor). From 1996 to 2009 he served as head of the Macromolecular Physics department: From September 2009 to October 2021 he has been Deputy Director.Since October 2021 he is the Director of the IEM. He has been co-founder of the Soft and Polymeric Matter Group

He has been visiting scientist at the Institut für Makromolekulare Chemie of the University of Hamburg (Germany) and at the Department Material Science and Engineering of the University of Utah (USA).
